Rush Ranch Open House

Yesterday was Open House at Rush Ranch and we had a BLAST!

We started out watching the blacksmith make a horse shoe

There was a fun gun show with people dressed up like cowboys! Here the guy in the hat just whipped a flower off the bald guys mouth.

Love this one of Grace

Square dancing with live music... that was fun to watch!

By now you're probably wondering where Erina was, right? Well she was in a BAD mood, complaining more than anything, argueing about everything!! There's straw stuck on my bum, there's a rock in my shoe, it's too windy, it's too bright... you get the point ;-)

Ok, back to our regular program.

Grace totally fell in love with this horse. His name is Apollo and he is just gorgeous and BIG.

All in all we had a wonderful time (well, except Erina). We're so lucky to have this ranch five minutes away from our home. I feel bad that I just discovered this place a few weeks ago... seriously, it's beautiful out there and totally reminds me of my home town in Switzerland. We will be back for sure! Grace already asked if she could go visit Apollo today :-).

Spring break is OVER

I'm a little sad today. Our lovely three week spring break is over :-(.

I miss my girlies... yes, they drive me nuts sometimes, but 90% of the time I'm just happy to have them close. Then I realized that we only have two more months of school until the big summer break. Which is exciting and sad. You know why it's sad? Because that means I'll be the mother of a 4th and 3rd grader soon.

Why does time fly??? Why, oh, why?

Lilly's 6th Birthday

I've been a lazy blogger this week, so now I have to play catch-up :-).

My niece Lilly turned six last Saturday and she had a wonderful garden party. It was lovely, the weather was gorgeous and her mom Michele had fun activities planned for the party guests.

Here's the birthday girl. Yes, she's in a tree... I tell you, compared to my girls she's a little monkey, lol.

Erina & Grace had a blast painting their own flower pots. As you might be able to tell, I was in love with the pretty butterflies that they had hanging off a tree :-).

Then it was time to plant some flower seeds.

And finally, present time!

Here she's reading the card from my girls. She was so proud that she could read it all by herself!

And a picture with her mommy and probably her very favorite present (which was from her mom & dad). It was so cute, she wanted to put them on RIGHT AWAY...

YES, we're going!!!

I'm so stinkin' excited right now! I booked flights to Switzerland yesterday night for a super duper price! I'm thrilled and can't even describe how happy I am.

I do this to myself every year. I stress about the cost of flights, I ponder over staying home one summer. Honestly, it gives me sleepless nights. There's always guilt involved, no matter how I decide. If I don't go, there's guilt that my parents don't get to see their grandchildren for two years. There's fear that something might happen to my parents. Really, I never thought living far away from family would be so hard! And if I go, I feel guilty about the money spent and leaving Brian home alone for a month.

Brian is totally supportive and always says "Get over it, press the button and move on... forget about the money, it's family that counts". So why do I still feel guilty? I wish I could figure it out.

So here I am again, feeling the guilt of leaving my husband behind for a month and the wonderful happiness of knowing that I will be with my parents this summer.

Yep, I'm a torn person. I have two homes. Even after ten years in the States, I think of Switzerland as my home. Funny, he? I wonder if that will ever change?

I'll leave you with a picture from last summer. A wonderful evening walk...

Friendship Friday

I guess my kids are watching too much tv this week, I keep hearing something about Friendship Friday... so I'll go with the theme :-).

Up close and personal...

... with Erina! We had a little one-on-one time yesterday while G was at karate. And as you can see, my dear Erina was in the mood for pictures. Oh happy day!!! :-D She said she would let me take as many pictures as I wanted... IF she gets to take pictures of me after. Okay, I was down with her idea!

When we got home she told daddy that she needs a good camera like mommies for her birthday. The powershot is just not doing it for her anymore, lol.

I so love this picture... it's a face I see often when I tell her "no".
This usually follows the above face ;-)
"Oh, you better watch it... or I'll hook you!"
"Oh no, you didn't!!!"
"You're just so stinkin' cute!!"
Hamming it up!
Now here's a real giggle.
Long eyelashes, freckles and rosie cheeks...

And I'm not gonna post any pictures of me... no way, not gonna happen... so don't even ask, ok?
