Here she is with her glasses!!

Thanks to everybody who played the guessing game... Erina loved reading your comments! As you can see she picked the second pair and she thinks she looks quiet smashing.

Of course I encountered some problems while taking pictures. How in the world do you take a good picture of somebody wearing glasses?? Sharon, I need help!!

Without flash outside:
With flash inside (and she REALLY is happy... she just got tired of me snapping pictures & she's watching TV... I bet you all know that stare):

My little celebrity!

Look who's on the Matilda Jane blog today (August 17)...

I'm such a proud mommy!! And you should have seen the look on Grace's face when I read it to her and she heard her name (she didn't see the picture yet)... then I scrolled down and Grace went "Ahh, that's me... I'm on the blog!!!!"

See, last Friday I spent a lot of time reading the MJ blog. Denise (the owner) had this fun quiz up and I really wanted to win (I didn't though, lol). Anyways, Grace came in and out of the room, checking out the pretty pictures. Then she asked why she's not on there. I told her that most pictures were taken by professional photographers. She wasn't too happy about it and marched away.

So I sent a few pictures to Denise with Grace's "Why not me" story. And low and behold she posted her pic!! Thank you, Denise, you have a heart of gold!

The near-sighted gene

Erina is getting glasses!!!

She's been complaining that she can't see the writing on the board and sure enough she is near-sighted. The doctor said she inherited the near-sighted gene... but honestly I don't know anybody in mine or Brian's family with glasses (well, except the "older" folks who need them for reading ;-).

UPDATE: I just talked to Gram Rose and she confirmed that Papa Don was near-sighted. So she got it from her grandpa!

She is actually excited and had fun picking out a frame. In the end it was between these two:

So which one do you think she picked? I'll let you all think about it until she gets them next week.

Some summer pictures!!

Summer vacation... ah, too bad it's over already! The girls and I spent July in Switzerland with my parents. We had a super relaxing time... I miss everybody already :-(.

In Basel by the river Rhein...
We take a picture with this silly cow every year :-)
Marveling at the new toys in front of a pretty fountain
Gondola ride in Reigoldswil
Grosi... how we adore her!
At the top, see the little gondola in the background?
We saw lots of lamas up there
This slide was dangerous!! Grace flew out of it right at the bend... luckily she didn't break anything!!
Bunny pizza for kids... isn't that too cute??
Another trip to Basel... that's the old Ratshaus in the background, built in the 1500's!
Eating butter pretzels is another tradition in Basel :)
Here are a few from a rainy day by the river

Here we walked to Germany and back... the girls thought it was cool to walk to another country!
The girly gang... my mom with my girls, my cousin with her girls and my aunt

Can you spy Erina? She loved all the old towers in Rheinfelden.

And this is the public pool in Moehlin. We spent many days there... definately one of the girls favorite spots!!

Shall we go for a walk?

First week of school and you know what the girls wanted to do? Walk to school. They got used to walking everywhere while we were in Switzerland this summer and wanted to continue this nice habit here. I was all for it, but the cold wind made us jump in the car after all.

New plan, we'll walk home after school. Ok, sounds wonderful!! It was nice and warm by then, but the wind was still blowing hard. Ha, a little wind can't hurt me! My only mistake was my footwear... what in the world was I thinking?? I wore flip-flops!!! After ten minutes my feet started hurting, so I took the flip-flops off... ah, much better... except the ground is steaming hot. Oh well, flip-flops are going back on, rubbing me in the wrong places. It took me 25 minutes of power walking (against the wind) to get to the school. It really doesn't look like a long way away when you're driving!!

The walk home was nice though, the wind was moving us along and I walked barefoot in the grass as much as possible. The girls stopped to play tarzan at the willow tree park and my feet felt better just looking at their happy faces.

Back home I checked out my feet... I had two blisters on each foot bottom... ouch!!

We'll do it again next week, but I'm wearing sneakers for sure :-D!

The other day Erina and I had a conversation about school and how to handle bullies or rude comments. Yes, I was trying to give her a pep talk, for a moment forgetting that she is not like me (I was the girl running home crying A LOT because my feelings got hurt).

Well, after my five minute solo, she looked at me like I was crazy and said "Mom, I don't care what others say about me. They can call me (enter potty word here) and it doesn't bother me. I know I'm awesome and that's all that counts."

Wow, what an amazing quality... she has a self-esteem bigger than her little self. It seems to float around her like a protective bubble. No hurtful words can get inside, they bounce right off...

Wow, she's ready to rock the world, isn't she?

First day of school

My little girls are growing up so fast. Can you believe they started 2nd and 3rd Grade yesterday??? I can't.

If you have a little one, who's not in school yet, enjoy them every second (even if they throw a tantrum or make a huge mess ;-). Believe me, one day you will miss even the bad moments!! Once they start Kindergarten time just flies... it's almost like you're putting them on a speed train that day and you can't pull the emergency break. And yes, I always get overly sentimental when a new school year begins :-(.

Ok, here we go...

I finally decided to start my own blog. I've been thinking about it for quiet a while... actually I would lay in bed at night thinking about a good name... nothing came to mind. So I sat here yesterday night for probably an hour, trying out names, checking if the url was available. Honestly, I almost gave up. Maybe I'm just not a creative person, maybe a person who can't come up with an original name for a blog just shouldn't even have a blog.

Well, here I am anyways. Not completely happy with the name, but who cares. You probably didn't even give my blog name a second thought until I started my rambling :-).

Why do I want a blog? I totally enjoy reading them myself and I figured this would be a great way for my friends & family to check in on us. After all I'm pretty bad about keeping in touch with them all. I'm just not the one to pick up a phone, mind you, I love it when people call me.
