We're having some foggy days.

First off it really was foggy today, as you can see in these pictures. But I'm also feeling foggy... usually that's what happens to me when the girls are off school during winter months. I drag myself around, feeling sorry for myself and wanting to climb into a hole until summer is here again. All because I get to sleep in and do sweet nothing all day! I guess I work better on a schedule... and SUNSHINE!

So here are my girls... slowly disappearing into the foggy marsh. I like these pictures because yet again they reflect my mood.
And we gotta have a shoe picture...

Our Christmas

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, ours was marvelous!

Christmas Eve was spent with family. Sadly it rained all day and driving for an hour was NO FUN. There's something wrong with my windshield wipers and everything looked like a smeary, blurry mess. Luckily Brian was driving!
Once we arrived at the Carro's house, everything was fine and peace settled in... look at the hustle and bustle going on :-)Three very excited girlies!
I love this one of Lilly, not sure why
Maureen had the best party poppers ever! We all got a crown, a present and a joke.
Erina & Uncle Kevin role playing one of the jokes.
Time to open presents!

Christmas Day, before the storm ;-)
Grace with her stocking
Erina did a victory dance after opening her Santa present... she really wanted that Barbie bus!
Jump on the couch and shake your booty, yeah, you go girl!
Grace wished for a shirt & hat for her jackalope Jack
I love it when they get excited over books!
Their dolls got Matilda Jane clothes... so freakin' cute!
Grace does this every Christmas... my silly girl knows she's my best present.
Erina wearing her new robe, playing with the Barbie bus.
Time for breakfast! I always make them reindeer pancakes, aren't they cute?
Pour on the syrup...
... and enjoy!

That's it! Thanks for looking!

A short play for you all!

Sunday was a rainy, grey & cold day here in Northern California. Did my girls get bored? No way! They put on a play with costumes and all. I just love how creative they are.

It all started with Erina waking up early in the morning. Considerate as she is, she stayed in her bed and read poems by Shel Silverstein. While doing so, she had the great idea that she could make a play with her sister based on one of the poems. Once Grace was awake, they picked a poem, changed some details (the original poem has a bird & snowman in it... and nobody wanted to be a bird), copied the entire thing so each of them would have a copy, designed costumes, made tickets and set up the stage.

It was just so cute! I know I'm biased because I'm their mother... but listen to the inflection in their voices, they're giving it their all!

Forgot something... scroll down to the bottom of the page to turn off the music before you watch, thanks.

Snowman, by Erina & Grace

Since I had to take this little video with my old camera, I also finally downloaded all the pictures Erina & Grace took over the last few months. But that will be another blog post, lol!

We finally went to the Jelly Belly Factory to visit our favorite Santa. To us, he's the real deal... we LUV him! My pictures turned out lousy, but I'm still sharing :-).
Listening to their wishes.
Checking out all the jelly beans.

Now a little walk down memory lane!

This is...

... what I feel like today:

Hear me screaming... "CHRISTMAS IS COMING TOO SOON!!!!". I have to bake cookies, make my famous Christmas bark, get a teacher present, finish shopping for my girls, visit Santa, mail out my cards, send out presents to far away folks, make a photo album for Brian and go to my kids school choir performance. Oh and never mind the regular stuff like laundry, grocery shopping and eating :-D!

Maybe I should growl at people like my little Grace did to me yesterday:

This is what I probably looked like at Dessa & Brett's wedding reception. I was a dancing fool... it was a great feeling, like back in the days. And I'm usually shy! You know what brings it out in me? Live music! Spencer's band totally rocks and they were so fabulous live.

This is how I strive to be... calm & cute as my Erina. Well, let's face it, I'll never be as cute... but I can work on calm, right?
Ok, gotta run... I smell my burnt toast! I suppose I failed on the eating part already... ah, what a great day it will be.

You think I have mood swings :-D? This post is so vastly different from my last one, isn't it? Oh well, a blog is supposed to be a glimps of my life!

... is what I felt this morning when I took a nature walk in my beloved marsh. When I drove the girls to school, the marsh was white as a ghost, frozen and foggy. I just had to go see it up close :-). I'm so thankful to my hubby, I think he gave me the greatest gift with this camera. And I don't mean that in a materialistic way. It's more something within me. It made me slow down, look around and see the little details... I had almost forgotten how beautiful the world is.

I wish I could post this bigger, all the tiny dew drops look fabulous!

I found a heart!
These were taken in our very own yard... who knew a palm tree leave could looks so marvelous?

Look what we grew!!! Gorgeous & delicious avocadoes! We ate the very first ones yesterday, goodness, were they yummy. And a pretty spider web, again looks much better up close.

So don't forget to slow down and smell the roses... or in my case find the dew drops. Especially right now, with the holiday season approaching ever so fast and too many things on our lists. Slow down, take a deep breath, go for a walk and look at the beautiful world. Peace to you all!

I should be out and about, getting Christmas shopping done... oh, and we need food :-D. But I felt like sharing some random pictures first... so here you go:

I hope you all like my new banner... I got tired of the old one and I felt a bang of homesickness everytime I looked at it!
Have a nice weekend :-).
